Confirm the job before booking travel
Get confirmation of the workplace, start date, contact person, contract terms and salary basis. Ask what happens if the start date changes. An application or an informal expression of interest is not a confirmed placement.
Prepare the documents requested for your role
Ask the recruitment team which documents you need and how to provide them securely. Bring the documents requested for your placement; do not send bank or identity details to unverified contacts.
- Valid identification and a current CV.
- Driving licence and relevant professional certificates, if required.
- Any existing registration information requested by the employer, such as a Dutch BSN if you already have one.
- Any additional checks specifically required by the vacancy.
Agree accommodation and arrival details
Confirm the accommodation address, room type, weekly charge, deposit and check-in time. Know who to call if your journey is delayed. If travelling with a partner, confirm both employment and housing arrangements first.
Plan transport and your first weeks
Confirm your commute, shift times, available transport and any charges. Ask when your first salary payment is expected and allow for travel, food and other initial expenses. Discuss the insurance and registration arrangements that apply to your contract; ask which steps you must complete yourself.
Keep a simple arrival checklist
Save your job and housing terms, workplace address and recruitment contact. Tell the team your travel plan after it is agreed. If something changes, contact the recruitment team promptly so your arrival and start can be coordinated.
